Abstract
This study investigates the impact of green logistics on Viet Nam’s exports to developed countries during the period 2007-2022. A Green Logistics Performance Index (GLPI) is constructed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) by integrating logistics performance indicators with environmental variables. The GLPI is incorporated into an extended gravity model to assess its effect on export performance. Using panel data of Viet Nam’s exports to 30 developed countries, the study employs the Random Effects model with robust standard errors. The empirical results indicate that economic distance and inflation negatively affect export value, while trade openness, foreign direct investment, and exchange rate positively influence exports. However, the GLPI does not exhibit a statistically significant short-run impact. The findings suggest that although green logistics may not immediately enhance export performance, it plays a crucial role in long-term competitiveness by improving environmental compliance and supply chain efficiency. Policy implications highlight the need to invest in sustainable logistics infrastructure and adopt green technologies to support Viet Nam’s export growth in environmentally demanding markets.
